Masud Khokhar


Masud Khokhar is the chief digital and information officer at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, where he is accountable for libraries, IT services, and the wider digital transformation of the University. He has previously held senior roles in several libraries, as the university librarian and keeper of the Brotherton Collection at the University of Leeds, director of library and archives at the University of York, assistant director for digital innovation and research services at Lancaster University, and different roles at Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford. A computer scientist by education, Masud’s interests span across strategic leadership, digital transformation, education spaces, cultures of innovation, and the future of knowledge.

Between 2023 and 2025, Masud also held the role of the chair of Research Libraries UK (RLUK), a consortium of 39 research intensive libraries in UK and Ireland. He has also served on Cambridge University Libraries Syndicate, Wellcome Collection Advisory Board, and currently advises research bodies and higher education organizations. He also serves on the JStor Library Advisory Group.
